Bulk import customers or organizations from a file in Jira Service Management
Jira Service Management adds customers and organizations one at a time. Here are your options for doing it from a file.
What Jira Service Management gives you
- One at a time in the Customers and Organizations screens of each service project.
- The REST API: create customers and organizations, add members and link them to projects with a script. It works, but you write and run the script, and it needs a Jira admin's credentials.
- Customer Service Management's CSV import, if your site uses Customer Service Management spaces. It creates customer and organization records there; check whether it covers what you need, such as organization membership and project access, for your Jira Service Management projects.
With Customer Roster
- Install Customer Roster and open Jira settings → Apps → Customer Roster → Import.
- Upload your spreadsheet saved as CSV (start from the templates if you like): email, name, organization, project, and any detail fields.
- Keep Don't email anyone, or choose to send Jira Service Management invitations.
- Check the column matching — your own headers are fine.
- Read the dry run: every row is judged — New customer, New organization, Existing, Duplicate, Skipped, or Error with the reason. Nothing has changed yet.
- Confirm. Customers are created, organizations created, members added and projects linked in one go.
It works on every Jira Service Management site. If something's wrong afterwards, Undo takes back the memberships and project links the import added.
